The Jiu-Jitsu Basement is run by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Bill Krieg. He started his martial arts training during the summer of 1994. His initial focus was on more traditional style training to include karate and judo. In 1997, he began to focus more specifically on jiu-jitsu.

In late 1999, he moved from Milwaukee to Appleton, WI. At the time of the move, he was training regularly as a member of Team Vaghi. To stay with his original team, he started a small club in the basement of a rental duplex. For more on that story, go to the ‘What is the Jiu-Jitsu Basement’ page. Starting the club forced him to focus more on learning to be a coach and less on personal achievement. He did compete in tournaments across the country – but his desire was always to share knowledge and grow the team.

On May 4, 2013, after approximately 15 years of training, he earned his black belt in jiu-jitsu from Rodrigo Vaghi. Since that time, he has continued to focus on student development and passing along knowledge accumulated over 25 years of study.

The Jiu-Jitsu Basement is a non-affiliated training location in Kaukauna, WI. It is also the headquarters of bluelinebjj.com and balancetactical.com. Questions and/or comments can be directed to Bill Krieg at jiujitsubasement@gmail.com or through the contact page.
