We are proud to offer a wide range of training topics and learning formats. While the Jiu-Jitsu Basement primarily focuses on teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, we also offer law enforcement training and general self defense sessions. Most training is done in small, semi-private lessons, but sessions can be taught one-on-one or in seminars up to 100 students. We’ll work to accommodate your needs.
Training Topics Available
Private Lessons – Private lessons are one-on-one instruction of a specific topic or position. The benefits include exclusive time with the instructor, ability to control the pace of the lesson, ability to change topics as desired, and privacy/confidentiality if you don’t want others to see or know you’re training. While these are certainly available, semi-private lessons are typically recommended.
Semi-Private Lessons – Semi-Private lessons consist of 2-6 students all wanting instruction on a specific topic or position. The benefits include being able to select a training partner of similar size & skill, bouncing questions and ideas off each other, having someone else to help remember what was shown, and lowering the per-person cost of the lesson by splitting the hourly rate evenly.
Open Mats – Approximately once a month the Jiu-Jitsu Basement is opened for free 2-hour training sessions. These open mats are free and limited to the first 7 individuals who RSVP a spot when the open mats are announced. The typical format has the instructor sharing recent topics of interest, answering group questions, and then sparring or “rolling” with other attendees.
Workshops – Workshops are 2-hours in length and held at an off-site facility arranged by the whomever is requesting the training. Workshops are great for very focused, specific topics or positions. Workshops can cover jiu-jitsu, self-defense, law enforcement, or private security related material. Cost for a workshop depends on the time of year and distance I would need to travel.
Seminars – Seminars are 3-4 hours in length and held at an off-site facility arranged by the whomever is requesting the training. Workshops are great for very focused, specific topics or positions. Seminars can cover jiu-jitsu, self-defense, law enforcement, or private security related material. Cost for a seminar depends on the time of year and distance I would need to travel.
