Frequently asked questions
Can I earn rank in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by training only in the basement?
No. Utilizing private and semi-private lessons is a great way to supplement training, but it does not replace time needed to be spent in a gym or academy setting. Earning stripes or getting promoted to your next belt will need to be done at your primary training location utilizing the curriculum established by your team.
Can I bring a friend to a private lesson?
Absolutely. In fact, we encourage you to bring one or more friends along to the training. Prices are based on time, not by number of participants. Meaning, you can have a private lesson and pay the full amount. If you bring friends, that cost can be divided evenly among yourselves and therefore reduce the cost per person. There is also a small seating area if you want to bring someone along to observe and not train.
Is jiu-jitsu training limited only to certain teams or affiliations?
No. The Jiu-Jitsu Basement is not affiliated. All belt levels from all teams are welcome to train.
Is live rolling allowed?
Can sessions be video recorded?
Is a uniform needed for training? What kind of equipment is needed?
The Jiu-Jitsu Basement is a non-affiliated training location in Kaukauna, WI. It is also the headquarters of bluelinebjj.com and balancetactical.com. Questions and/or comments can be directed to Bill Krieg at jiujitsubasement@gmail.com or through the contact page.
